I THOUGHT YOU STARTED CHARGING SUBSCRIPTION FEES ... WHY DO YOU NEED TO FUNDRAISE STILL?
Since 2009, we had distributed our magazines for free — at a great financial cost to our organization and our publisher. Last year, we decided to implement modest subscription fees for print issues to help offset printing and mailing costs, while still providing free access to all of our stories and archives on the web. Subscription fees do not fund our staff and the many contributors who are integral to our work. We fundraise in order for Inheritance to be an equitable and sustainable organization.
WHERE WILL THE MONEY BE USED?
- Day-to-Day Operations: We aim to keep our costs low, but expenses like website hosting fees, credit card processing charges, storage facilities for our magazines, and others, are necessary operations.
- People: Our team of six volunteers work together to plan, produce, edit, design, and manage our issues, stories, and artists. Each member holds multiple jobs to survive while dedicating many hours to Inheritance as a labor of love, so we aim to to compensate them financially as well.
- Contributors: We provide a small monetary gift to each of our contributing writers, interviewers, artists, and photographers whose expertise and skills make Inheritance.
- Debt: We have remaining debt to pay off, from when the magazine was produced, printed, and distributed for free for all of our readers.
